L-shaped ground floor extension at the back and side of house to accommodate a large open plan kitchen / dining area with 3 fully glazed double doors towards the garden.

The walls of the extension are made of block work with coloured external insulation render system as very commonly used in Germany and lately introduced to the Irish market. The mass of the walls works as a heat-buffer and creates a cosy internal climate, while the external insulation keeps the cold out. The render is synthetic and pre-coloured, flexible and has a low risk of cracking.

The smaller tilt + turn windows beside the large double doors allow for manual ventilation.

Kitchen units directly imported from Germany. The space is flooded with natural light.

Large rooflights throw natural light into the inside space of the original house. A flush floor trench heater creates a warm air shield in front of the large double glazed patio doors and prevents cold air circulation drafts. The flooring is solid beech.
