Blackrock: Rear extension to a detached house in
Blackrock, Dublin. The proposed rear kitchen extension is designed
with a "floating roof", which has a contious glass band
on all 3 sides. The ridge of the zinc roof is diagonal so each elavtion
is unique with a sloping roof. This creates interesting shapes and
roof-planes inside and outside. The glazing is in a timber-aluminium
curtain wall system. The entire house will benefit from an insulation
and heating upgrade using renewable energies like heat pumps and
photovoltaics.
Marino: Two storey rear extension to a terraced
house in Marino, Dublin. The first floor extension is located to
one side to avoid overshadowing of neighbouring properties. It is
designed with a double pitched roof with diagonal ridge, which keeps
the eaves low towards the neighbours and creates different and unique
eleavtions on every side.
The ground floor extension allows for spacious open plan kitchen
- dining - living on a restricted site. The glass rooflight keep
the inner parts of the building bright. The enitre site is kincked
and the plan reacts to this specific site. The kinck can be experienced
from within the building.
Co. Louth: cluster of spaces located around an existing
rural cottage. The resulting slight angles of the new spaces allow
for views of the countryside from every point of the building. The
spaces are grouped around a central service core (kitchen - utility
- plant - bathroom)
Blackrock: Recently completed: Extensive renovation and
landscaping of a protected end of terrace house. The existing rear
extension was re-configured with larger openings to allow for a
dining room that is connected to the kitchen and to the Living room
via the outdoor glass terrace.
The glass terrace allows for light in the basement play room and
creates a new access to the garden level from the hall level. The
kitchen was moved from the basement to the ground floor. The entire
house was upgraded in regards to heating, solar-thermal, and insulation
values.
