The front side extension with dormer window is finished in the same pebble dash as the main house. The site has a strong fall from left to right, therefore the neighbours house is at a lower level. New, deeper suspended joists were installed to fit adequate insulation and were sealed for drafts. To avoid radiators a trench heater was installed. The new flooring is scandinavian spruce wide plank extra long (10m) so there are no joins between front and rear reception room and only full length boards were used. New, deeper suspended joists were installed to fit adequate insulation and were sealed for drafts. To avoid radiators a trench heater was installed. The new flooring is scandinavian spruce wide plank extra long (10m) so there are no joins between front and rear reception room and only full length boards were used. The monolithic clay brick walls achieve current u-values without the need of further insulation, reduce trades and interface detailing, and can be rendered internally and externally. The building is orientated to the south with large openings to the front and small windows to the north facing elevations. A basement makes for an abundances of storage area and plant rooms.
